Job description

Required for January 2024
Full or part time – minimum three days per week (.6)
One-year fixed term

We are looking for a full time or part-time Teacher of Physics to join a highly successful department at this leading London day school on a one-year fixed-term basis. We expect to appoint a teacher who combines a strong intellectual interest in Science generally, and in Physics in particular, with an evidence-informed approach to classroom teaching.

Passion & enthusiasm

The successful applicant will be passionate about teaching Physics across our age and ability ranges. They will be just as enthusiastic about teaching General Science in Year 7 as about teaching A Level Physics in Years 12 and 13. Although the precise balance of teaching for the post holder will depend on their interests and experience, it is sure to involve teaching through the age range with some work at IGCSE and above.

The school encourages genuine intellectual curiosity and fosters a real sense of communal endeavour, making this an outstanding opportunity to teach in a congenial and stimulating setting. It should, therefore, be attractive to an ECT (UCS offers full statutory induction) or to a serving teacher seeking wider experience. We welcome equally applications from teachers in the maintained sector and the independent sector, as well as from those without a formal teaching qualification.

UCS enjoys a distinctive ethos and an enviable reputation for teaching and learning, as well as for pastoral work, music, drama and other co-curricular activities.

Please click apply now to download the application form and send a completed copy to [email protected].

In addition to completing the accompanying form, applicants should provide a full curriculum vitae and a supporting letter as soon as possible. There is no official closing date for this appointment and applications will be considered on receipt. We reserve the right to interview and appoint at any stage during this process.

UCS is fully committed to the safeguarding of children. All applicants for this post must be prepared to undergo child protection screening.
