The sincerely held belief of everybody at the UCS Pre-Prep is that all children need to be happy and secure – and that their learning must therefore be fun.

Accordingly, we strive to give them an environment that instils self-confidence, cultivates self-esteem and enables the emotional resilience that sees mistakes as steps to improvement. This approach allows our boys to fully realise their potential and develop a love of school combined with excellence in behaviour and learning.

The old adage says that “it takes a village to raise a child” and we are whole-heartedly committed to our role of caring for the in-school part of that educational equation.

Our well-qualified and experienced staff are friendly, welcoming and supportive. Our children are grouped flexibly for teaching and learning purposes; while they also benefit from a high teacher-pupil ratio, with Class Teachers teamed with Teaching Assistants and Specialist Teachers.

Learning values

We use social and emotional learning tools to help our pupils recognise, manage and understand their emotions, care about others, and make good decisions. Meanwhile, our five dinosaur-themed learning characters are linked to the Pre-Prep learning values of Endeavour, Resilience, Intellectual Curiosity, Collaboration and Courtesy. We are proud of how the boys lend such importance to treating each other with kindness and respect.
