STEM Enrichment Week

STEM Enrichment week was a thrilling venture for pupils. Throughout the week, they dove into a variety of engaging and hands-on activities that were both educational and fun.

One of the highlights was the suturing workshop for our sixth formers, where students rolled up their sleeves and learned the art of stitching, gaining first-hand insight into medical techniques.

Whilst down the corridor, our younger chemists put on their PPE for an exciting session of slime-making! They experimented with different textures and properties whilst learning about the fascinating chemistry behind their gooey creations.

Pupils also had the opportunity to participate in activities such as a squid dissection workshop, a maths challenge, tune for the latest edition to the ‘Meet the Staff Podcast, independently managed by two Remove pupils and the chance to enjoy a Pyrotechnics demonstration!

Practical activities weren’t the only thing on the menu for UCS pupils to chose from. STEM Enrichment week was further elevated by inspiring guest lectures. Professor Nick Lane from University College London engaged students with his insights into cellular life, breaking down complex scientific concepts into relatable and intriguing ideas. Meanwhile, Dr. Jessica Wade from Imperial College London shared her enthusiasm for chiral materials and quantum technologies, motivating students to imagine the endless possibilities that exist within STEM fields.

Overall, STEM Enrichment Week was not just about learning; it was about sparking enthusiasm, creativity, and collaboration among students.
